Madrigalejo (rice fields and marshes)

Collared Pratincole in the rain

In the morning we set off south through Zotita village to the rice fields and marshes of the lowest valleys of Madrigalejo. The weather wasn’t great but we did manage to see some fantastic birds including Collared Pratincoles, Zitting Cisticolas and Sardinian Warblers. Walking along an old railway track that connected with the Vegas del Gudiana trail, we also spotted the exotic looking Common Waxbills and Red Avadavats.

After a damp lunch the weather got the better of us and we headed back to our lodge to dry out.
