Romania Aug 1999 — chasing the eclipse

David, his mother (Liz), uncle (Giles) and I went to Romania in August 1999 to watch the total solar eclipse (August 11th). We stayed at a convent near Rimnicu-Vilcea, the point of greatest eclipse and watched the exclipse from the hills above. David and I went to see Amanda in Japan when she was working as an English teacher in Tokyo. We spent a day back in Urasa and IUJ to see all our old haunts. We also took a day trip to Nikkō National Park. We stopped off in Malaysia on the way back. Back to list of Holidays with David

Tenerife 1993 — recuperating

In November 1993, after David’s illness we took a weeks holiday in Tenerife. We hired a car and explored the island. Paisaje Lunar, the moonscape along the 500 year old Chasna Trail was fantastic. We had lunch at Vilaflor before we set out. The path was a bit dodgy in places. We also visited Teide National Park which includes an enormous volcanic crater 48 km in circumference.
