Santa Marta de Magasca – Cáceres Plains – Magasca Plains

This was another wet day but that didn’t deter us. After a detour into Santa Marta de Magasca for a coffee stop while waiting for the rain to clear, we continued to the Cáceres Plains where we had great views of European Rollers on the telephone wires.
We spent a long time watching a male Great Bustard displaying to two females, who were nowhere near as impressed as we were.
After lunch at the picnic area near Santa Marta de Magasca, we drove to the Magasca plains where we found lots of Calandra and Crested Larks as well as more male Great Bustards.

On our way home, driving towards Trujillo on the Cáceres road, we stopped to watch five Long-eared Owls roosting by the side of the road: a great end to the day.
